The ABWE-AIR International Airbase is located about 50 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia. This is where the activities to enable and support our aviation ministries around the world take place. Aircraft are rebuilt, modified and prepared for service on our fields. We also provide logistical support for our pilots including purchasing and shipping aircraft parts, technical support, flight and maintenance training, recruiting additional personnel and whatever else we can do to enable our aviation church planters to be more effective. Communication with our pilots is important and we use a variety of means to accomplish this including telephone, email and amateur radio if required. We encourage all of our pilots to earn their ham radio license to give them additional communication options. Email, while a wonderful and frequently used tool, does require a working phone line. At the airbase we are currently involved in completing the repair and refurbishment of a Cessna 182/180 that hasn't flown for a number of years and a damaged Taylorcraft we acquired. We also have several other repair projects in line so any aircraft mechanic volunteers are welcome. We have a variety of other equipment that we use in maintaining the 2,700-foot long grass runway we are located at, so there is always plenty of work for handymen (and women) Presently, we are improving our facility here (see Airbase Improvement Project) and are looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks associated with this endeavor.
